Somewhere Beyound The Sea Sea
In the squeal to The House in the Cerulean Sea. We follow Arthur's story. We get to dive into more of Arthur’s childhood trauma how it still affects him today, and how generational trauma affects all involved.
Arthur and Linus and their six children; Talia, a gnome, Phee a forest sprite, Theodore a wyvern, Chaucey a semiaquatic oddity, Sal a shape-shifter, son of the devil Lucy live on Marsyas Island. They are excited that another child hopes to come live with them. But When Arthur gets the opportunity to speak at the Department In Charge of Magical Youth (DICMY) to share his story, he is provoked and brings out the Phoenix, prompting them to send someone to the island to investigate the home. Once again Arthur has to protect the children and their home from people who do not understand them and fear them.
I was laughing out loud through the whole book. Chauncey yelling “Fraaaannnnk” and Lucy and his love for dead people music and his threats. Theodore pretending to show the inspector his hoard.
Sal's character development is one of my favorites he is not as shy and He stands up multiple times for what he believes in for himself and the other children.
Now for the narration. Daniel Henning gives each character their own unique sound. He provides a comical touch to the children and the right amount of annoying sternness from the inspector. Insert major eye rolling, that lady. Daniel is the perfect fit for Cerulean Chronicles. I enjoyed every minute of listening to this book. I am sure both books in this series have become new go-to books for mood reads or reading slumps.
