The Darkening

Vesper Vale is the daughter of two failed revolutionaries. When caught her mother was given the choice of execution or going into the Storm that surrounds the city and curses anyone who touches it. Her mom chose the Storm.  Vesper and her father go into hiding but when they are discovered Vesper will do anything to get her father back. The Prince who is paranoid of the throne wants to kill her father but can she infiltrate the prince’s elite squad of soldier-sorcerers? In order to help save her father.

While I did enjoy the narration by Rachel Petladwala, there were moments where the story seemed to drag on in the middle. However, the action-packed scenes were truly gripping and well-written. Overall, The Darkening is a fine young adult novel that will captivate readers with its electrifying plot and dynamic characters.

“If nightmares had music, they'd sound like the Storm.

I recevied this as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
